Five Simple Tricks to Save Electricity

5 Simple Tricks to Save Electricity
the time to check your funds and pay the bills. Motherhood is such a wonderful experience. It is a little scary too - those tiny beings depend on you for more than love and affection.
Running the household is a delicate business of managing your funds and matching them to your needs. And when the needs include those of young children, any tactics that save some of that moolah are very handy.
Try these handy ways to save electricity:
1. Switch to CFL or LED bulbs.
The easiest way to reduce the electricity bill is to switch to CFL or LED energy efficient bulbs. They are comparatively more expensive on the shelf, but they do last much longer and save on your energy bill. Put them in places of high usage such as the kitchen and bathroom, and you will see a lowering of your electricity bill.
2. Turn off the Lights.
Not so simple when you already have a million little things to do. I understand, believe me. Make it easy by adding lamps. You don't need overhead lights to read a book. Leave the multi-bulb chandelier for special occasions. Wall sconces give a more romantic feel, don't you think?
3. Wash Clothes in Cold Water.
How our kids manage to dirty their clothes multiple times in one day is a mystery. But it involves a lot of clothes waiting to be washed every day. A simple switch of the button from hot to cold on the washing machine could save you a bundle too. It means less electricity to heat the water, which in turn means, better savings for you. Besides, cold water is better for colorful clothes anyways.
4. Unplug the Electronics.
In today's fast paced world, we have this strange need to stay connected. Went to a new restaurant, tweet about it; Baby smiled for the first time, upload a quick picture on Facebook; check your mails just before bed. All of that is perfectly fine as long as you remember to unplug all your electronics for the night. You certainly need all the rest you can get while the baby sleeps. The texts can wait until morning.
5. Invest in Solar Panels.
This might seem like an extreme measure, but you might be surprised at how easy it is and what a big saver it can turn into. You are at the same time reducing your carbon footprint and teaching your children about conservation of energy. The government offers many incentives to families who wish to install solar panel systems in their homes including tax breaks and loans.
